This is the Diamine Inkvent 2023 day 13 door:

Day 13’s ink is Diamine Weeping Willow. It’s a standard ink.

To call Diamine Weeping Willow a standard ink is to not do it justice. Weeping Willow is one of the shade changing inks that have been made so popular by Japanese ink makers. In this case it’s a combination of a greenish ochre and pink undertones. You can see it clearly in the swab below, but even in a fine nib the effect is pronounced.

I love this colour and I love the effect the ink has on the page. I will give it some more time, but I suspect that I will be purchasing an entire bottle of this ink:

Because of the muted, unsaturated shade, Diamine Weeping Willow adds a lot of interest to sketches. Its shifting colours also add to the effect, and you get a somewhat nostalgic, vintage look to your sketches:

And here’s the original bear:

What do you think about the colour changing properties of Diamine Weeping Willow? Would you use it or is it too light a shade for your use?

I was surprised to see this labelled as a standard. In my opinion this is at least a duo- , if not multichrome. I love it, it’s gone straight on the wish list.

Which inks are you thinking of buying so far? I am thinking this one, Night Fall, Jacaranda and Glacier. Masquerade is a possible, as I love those Ashes of Roses kind of tones, but the glitter is putting me off.

Great selection! I’m waiting until the end before I finalise my choices but I’m pretty sure I’ll buy this and Jacaranda.

I’m working my way through the inks myself. I was really pleasantly with this one. It looks like sewer water wet, but it dries just like one of Sailor’s Yurameko inks. It’s very similar to Seki.

This looks like a great muted drawing ink, though too light for writing. Its multichromatic nature reminds me of Birmingham Pen Co Petrified Wood. I hope Diamine makes more colors like these!

I hope so too – the effect is fantastic and really adds interest to your writing.

Thanks for all the great reviews. Reading them after we try each ink is part of the fun of the calendar!
This color reminded me a lot of Diamine Dusted Truffle from last year’s Inkvent, but a bit lighter, and of course it is a standard ink.

Thank you!
Yes, I can see how this would remind you of Dusted Truffle – one of the more unique Inkvent 2022 inks.
