It’s day 22 of Diamine’s Inkvent (check out that snowflake!):

Day 22’s ink is Diamine Deck the Halls, a dark purple chameleon ink, and an interesting one at that.

Deck the Hall is dark and saturated, with just a hint of shading and a fascinating chameleon effect. I was expecting something with a silver, green or blue shimmer, but Deck the Hall shimmers from coppery orange to pink.

I don’t really like this dark eggplant colour, bu the chameleon shimmer effect here works very well, because of its strong contrast with the base colour. The effect reminded me of a hummingbird’s wings flashing.

I don’t really like the base colour so I don’t see myself buying a full size bottle of Diamine Deck the Halls. That being said, this ink is very Inkvent appropriate and an interesting ink with a lot of character.

Bonus: the signature I mentioned in my writing sample:

Oh! Thank you for this. I collect books…..about books. Books as the fictional theme in the story. The Never Ending Story, The Club Dumas, The Book Thief, The Shadow of the Wind, the Book Shop, etc. Never heard of this one. My daughter has a limited edition signed book of Haruki Murakami’s. I have one by David Mitchell, the author of Cloud Atlas. We collect all their books and debate who is the best author! Precious items….books. The ink colour here looks like one that I would be very happy to use. Deeper rich hues are my favourite ink choices. All the best.

I just finished this book and I highly recommend that you add it to your collection. I wish that I had a Murakami signed book – that would be brilliant! She’s so lucky.
I loved Cloud Atlas, and to have a book signed by Mitchell is something else. He’s such a talented writer.
Thank you for your thoughtful comments. As usual, they’re the best.

Thank you. Your posts are a great read. Next year I shall look to buy the book and still have a fair few books about books to collect otherwise. I have read everything David Mitchell. Most of Murakami’s to chat with my daughter about them. I bought Killing Commendatore about two years back by Murakami but never got past the first couple of dozen pages. I will revisit. But David Mitchell’s Utopia Avenue I read in a few days. Love his intermingling/re-introduction of the same characters over different books from time to time. Thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated. All the best and good wishes.
